Join one of the leading disability support providers in SA. The Role Centacare's Whyalla site presents an opportunity for an experienced Disability Support Worker (DSW) to join us on a casual basis. We offer services including the Independent Living Program in their own accommodation of choice, and 24/7 supported accommodation services. In this role, you'll assist our clients by providing services and support aimed at maximizing their independence at home and in the community. You'll also help strengthen their relationships with family and social networks and facilitate opportunities for them to work towards achieving personal goals. Other responsibilities include: - Supervise and support clients with daily living activities and personal care needs, either individually or as part of a team.
- Facilitate community access opportunities for clients, including social events and medical appointments.
- Maintain accurate documentation to monitor and report on client progress and health care.
- Implement educational, skill development, and social activity programs for clients.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and reviewing clients' Individual Support Plans to ensure personalized care.
- Provide person-centred support tailored to each client's goals and foster increased skill development and independence.
About You As an experienced support worker dedicated to helping people with disabilities, you will bring a comprehensive understanding of the NDIS Practice Standards and demonstrate a strong commitment to a person-centred approach. Your genuine passion for empowering individuals with disabilities will shine through as you assist them in achieving their goals and fostering the development of new skills. Other skills and qualifications include: - Certificate III in Disability Services or Individual Support or acceptable alternative
OR - A commitment to undertake a Certificate III in Individual Support within 6 months of starting, and to complete it within 2 years of employment.
- Valid (DHS) Working with children check (WWCC) - employers check
- Valid NDIS Worker Check
- Valid Australian Driver’s Licence
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Ability to comply with COVID-19 vaccination requirements
- Completion of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission - New Worker NDIS Induction Modules and Worker Orientation Module
- Ability to comply with Centacare Policy COVID-19 Vaccination requirements
- Ability and availability to work outside of normal hours, including weekends, overnights and evenings
- Must be willing to work extra shifts, as required
- Willingness to transport clients either in a Centacare Vehicle or your own motor vehicle and comply with the Grey Fleet Vehicle Contract.
Desirable - Experience working with people with a disability and their families
- Experience working in community based human service
