Next Steps

Next Steps supports young people aged 16–21 who are transitioning from residential care to independent living. The program provides therapeutic, practical, and tenancy support to help young people build life skills, strengthen wellbeing, and successfully move into their own homes.

 

Hannah Place

Hannah Place provides supported accommodation for young women who are pregnant or parenting and under Guardianship of the Minister. The service offers safe housing and tailored support to help young mothers develop parenting skills, stability, and independence.

 

 About the opportunity

 

Centacare is seeking an experienced and values-driven Manager to lead our Next Steps and Hannah Place programs during a 7-month maternity leave period with the possibility of extension up to 9 months.

 

The Manager will provide leadership and operational oversight across both programs across two locations, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed service delivery.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supervising multidisciplinary teams
  • Providing staff support, development, and performance oversight
  • Managing program operations—including budgets, reporting, KPIs, and contract requirements
  • Overseeing referral and intake processes
  • Ensuring risk management and worker safety procedures are followed
  • Building strong relationships with partner agencies and key stakeholders
  • Supporting program planning, development, and continuous improvement

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

  • Social Work degree (or equivalent)
  • DHS Working with Children Check
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Experience leading and managing staff
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people or families with complex needs
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills

 It’s a bonus if you have:

  • Management experience or qualifications
  • Knowledge of trauma, attachment, therapeutic interventions, and child protection systems
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people
