Mount Gambier (Full-Time, 1 FTE)

Join us as a Community Development Worker in Mount Gambier to engage communities, build partnerships, and support DFV prevention through the EASE program.

 

The Role

 

Working with the Early Assessment Support and Engagement (EASE) program and based in Mount Gambier, the Community Development Worker will be instrumental in creating early intervention pathways for victim-survivors of Domestic Family Violence (DFV) in the Limestone Coast. Working closely with a dedicated team, you’ll engage with local leaders, community members, and service providers to build awareness, strengthen partnerships, and develop culturally sensitive programs that support those affected by DFV. Your outreach will extend to the Upper Southeast region, including Naracoorte, Bordertown, and surrounding townships, to ensure the community is informed, empowered, and connected to support services

 

The key duties in this role will include:

  • Engage community members through consultations, group activities, education, referrals, and other outreach efforts.
  • Design and deliver programs and presentations to reach diverse community groups.
  • Ensure all materials and engagement practices are culturally safe and relevant to community needs.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with key community leaders and local services.
  • Facilitate activities and discussions that raise awareness about DFV and provide pathways for support.
  • Encourage participation of those with lived experience in the development and evaluation of program services.

Your background in social work, community development, or related fields equips you with the skills to engage effectively with diverse communities, build strong partnerships, and create impactful programs.

 Essential Criteria

  • Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Social Sciences, Community Services, or Community Development, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive background in domestic violence, Aboriginal family violence, or community development (Desirable).
  • Proven ability to work effectively with community stakeholders and lead community-based initiatives (Desirable).

Special Conditions

  • This role will involve extensive travel within the Limestone Coast region, with some work occurring outside standard business hours.
