Opportunity for an experienced Counsellor to work as part of an experienced team to provide support to children, individuals, couples and families based in Mount Gambier & Murray Bridge. The Role As a Family Relationship Counsellor, you will provide counselling and support to children, individuals, couples and families experiencing relationship difficulties or separation. Working within a child-focused and trauma-informed framework, you assist clients in navigating challenges, strengthening family connections, and prioritising the best interests of the child. The Family Relationship Counsellor will have the following key responsibilities: - Provide strength-based, child-focused counselling to individuals, children, and families.
- Work collaboratively with the Program Manager to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Apply knowledge of family dynamics, child development, and domestic and family violence.
- Facilitate group sessions and provide referrals as needed.
- Maintain accurate client records using the Penelope database.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external service providers
These positions are funded on a fixed-term opportunity until 30 June 2026. See attached position description for full details. What You’ll Bring - Tertiary qualifications in Counselling OR tertiary qualifications in Social Work/ Psychology with substantial counselling experience
- Ability to use Microsoft Office suite (e.g. Word, Excel) and other technology to fulfil requirements of the role
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check.
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- Ability to do some intra-state travel intra-state when required
It’s a bonus if you have: - Counselling experience with couples
- Counselling experience with children
- Group work experience
- Experience using Penelope electronic client management system
- Experience in the community services sector and/or not-for-profit sector
