The Role

Centacare is excited to offer several rewarding multiple opportunities for experienced counsellors to join our dynamic School Counselling Team.

We have several positions available across different school locations, providing you with the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students and their families. These roles are fixed term until January 2027, with the possibility of extension subject to funding.

While your primary workplace will be based at the school, you’ll also have access to our Aldinga or city office for printing and administrative support.

Work schedule

Mondays to Fridays: 8:30 AM – 4:36 PM. Working days and hours will depend on the schools you are assigned to.

Responsibilities

• Provide counselling support for students experiencing difficulties with relationships, family, or educational issues.
• Work closely with the Principal and/or leadership team to support student wellbeing and school initiatives.
• Liaise with external agencies to support students and families at risk, including providing referral pathways when needed.
• Apply a child-focused approach and thorough understanding of child development in all aspects of working with children and families.
• Work with students and families in crisis, providing both proactive and reactive support.

What you need to bring

• Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or other relevant field
• RAN- EC- training certification
• Experience in working with parents, children and young people(desirable)
• Experience working in a school setting(desirable)
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Experience using Athena Penelope electronic client management system
