The Role

 

Access SA delivers Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselling and workplace wellbeing services to a wide range of organisations on a fee‑for‑service basis. This role is a key part of the Mental Health, Counselling and Wellbeing Services (MHCaWS) management team at Centacare. The MHCaWS Unit covers a wide range of services that support individuals and families through challenges, walking alongside our clients to empower them to experience their full potential and thrive.

 

We are seeking a dynamic and highly driven Business Operations Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership across the service. This includes oversight of client relationships, contract delivery, operational systems, financial sustainability, and business development. Working alongside the Executive Manager, you will contribute to the long‑term direction, growth and performance of Access SA.

 

The Business Operations Manager works closely with clinical leadership, EAP counsellors, finance, and corporate services to balance service quality with business performance, ensuring contractual obligations, KPIs, and reporting requirements are met. Additionally, the Business Operations Manager will play a key role in business development activities including the marketing of the service, and the identification, assessment and response to new business opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic, financial and operational leadership to ensure Access SA is commercially sustainable, efficient and contractually compliant.
  • Strengthen and grow client relationships, ensuring service agreements, KPIs and reporting obligations are met.
  • Work alongside the Access SA Senior Clinical Lead to support cohesive service delivery and participate actively as part of the MHCaWS Management Team.
  • Identify, assess and pursue new business and service development opportunities, including marketing and proposal/tender contributions.
  • Monitor revenue, expenditure and utilisation in partnership with finance, maintaining accurate billing and strong financial performance.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure high‑quality, ethical service delivery aligned with EAPAA standards.
  • Lead workforce planning, recruitment, induction and performance development for the team.
  • Improve operational systems, reporting and process efficiency, including use of client management systems.
  • Embed continuous improvement and quality assurance practices, including feedback processes and compliance audits.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Business degree-level qualification, and/or degree-level qualification in Psychology, Social Work or a similar qualification
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing individuals and teams
  • Strong business acumen with ability to identify opportunities and operate in competitive fee‑for‑service environments
  • Experience promoting teamwork and building an effective workplace culture
  • Experience in policy and procedure development
  • Strong skills in tender writing, proposal development or grant submissions
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and consultative skills
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Valid DHS Working with Children Check
  • National Police Clearance obtained within the last 12 months
  • Ability to work occasional out‑of‑hours and on-call

Desirable

  • Training and Assessment qualification
  • Organisational Development experience and/or qualification
  • Experience using Penelope CMS
  • Management experience within the NFP sector
  • Membership with a relevant professional association
