About Us

About the Position

The Support Worker will provide psychosocial (mental health) support to Centacare clients who are on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The scheme provides Australians who have a permanent and significant disability, with the reasonable and necessary supports they need to enjoy an ordinary life. Centacare offers a range of NDIS mental health services to support individuals to realise their own strength and skills, and to achieve their goals through recovery orientated practice. The main supports this role will provide include:

  • Assistance with day to day living - capacity building in their life
  • Access to community, social and recreational activities
  • Support to build independence and personal control
  • Help to develop supports outside of the living environment

About You

To be considered for this position you will need the following:   


Essential Criteria  

  • Minimum qualifications in Certificate IV in Mental Health (Non-clinical) OR Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
  • Proven knowledge of Mental Health Recovery Principles and application of Recovery Orientated Practice
  • A Department for Human Services (DHS) Child-Related Employment Screening or the ability to obtain one
  • Current South Australian Driver’s Licence or equivalent

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working with individuals with a psychosocial disability and their support networks
  • Lived Experience of a mental illness and ability to demonstrate significant mental health recovery
  • Knowledge of the NDIS
  • Experience working with the NDIS
