About the Position

AOD Youth Workers provide support to young people who are residing at Centacare’s Integrated Youth Substance Misuse Specialist Service (IYSMSS) and have the following key responsibilities:

• Support young people to reduce their substance use through therapeutic conversations and skills development
• Provide supports related to mental health, well-being, and relationships
• Co-facilitate a range of group sessions and activities
• Assist young people to develop independent living skills
• Support Young People to safely sober-up, through monitoring their health and wellbeing and providing brief intervention

About You

To be considered for this position you will need to meet the following criteria:

Essential Criteria

• Valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check 
• Valid Driver’s Licence
• Certificate IV Alcohol & Other Drugs or equivalent
• Must be willing and available to predominantly work active overnight shifts and other shifts as required across a rotating roster including weekends.

Desirable Criteria 

• Experience in working with young people
• Experience working with individuals impacted by Alcohol and Other Drugs 
• Relevant tertiary qualification
