About the Position

The Student Placement Coordinator manages student placements within Centacare to deliver high quality social work field education, in partnership with Flinders University.


The following key responsibilities will ensure you contribute to the program meeting its objectives.

  • Liaise with Flinders University regarding placement planning for each semester, ensuring that the quota of student placements is achieved
  • Coordinate and participate in pre-placement interviews to ensure students are matched to an appropriate placement within Centacare
  • Support Managers and Executive Assistants to ensure students attend agency induction and are appropriately inducted to the relevant program(s) and site(s)
  • Facilitate all aspects of the student’s placement including appropriate orientation and maintaining accurate records
  • Proactively manage any issues within placements and communicate with field education staff on the progress of students

About You

To be considered for this position you will need to meet the following criteria:

 

Essential Criteria

  • Must hold a recognised Social Work degree and be eligible for membership of
    Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Current Child Safe Environments Certificate is required
  • Minimum three years’ practice as a qualified social worker 
  • Valid and current Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check
    (previously known as ‘Child-Related Employment Screening Clearance’)
  •  Holds a current unencumbered Australian Driver’s Licence or equivalent, and is willing to drive

Desirable Criteria 

  • Knowledge of learning theory, assessment and teaching approaches
  • Experience in supervising students
