The Role

The Family Mental Health Support Service (Supporting Children and Youth - SCY) is based at Murray Bridge and provides early intervention support to vulnerable families with children and young people aged 0-18 years who are showing early signs of, or are at risk of developing, mental illness. The program provides outreach services to the following areas: Murray, Mid Murray, Coorong and Mallee.

 

Our Service is client cantered client focused using strength-based approaches working within a trauma informed Care model and we value the opportunity to work with our clients and families to support them to reach their full potential.

 

This is a Parental Leave fixed-term opportunity until 12 September 2025.

What you need to bring

 

     Essential 

  • Degree in Social Work or a related discipline
  • Experience working with vulnerable families with children and young people who are showing early signs of, or are at risk of developing, mental illness
  • Valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check 
  • Valid driver's licence 
  • Available and able to work outside of standard hours when required.

     Desirable

  • Experience delivering therapeutic interventions including one on one and group work
  • Experience in mental health promotion/education and community development activities
  • Experience working in regional areas
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse people
  • Experience using Penelope client records management software
